Design Leadership

My design leadership philosophy and experience

Philosophy

Design team management boils down to 3 main themes, as noted by Julie Zhou—People, Process, and Purpose. Of the three, I have found that Process tends to naturally dominate the time and attention of a design team, especially as it relates to collaboration between cross-functional teams. As a result, intentional energy is required to address the People and Purpose domains. What does the individual want and need to be happy and productive? How do they hope to grow and progress? Why is the work they’re doing important and how does it make a difference?
